Description
The Signal Box at Aviemore Railway Station, designed by McKenzie and Holland in 1898, is a large, rectangular building with ten bays. It features white painted timber weather-boarding and cover-strip construction. The roof is gabled and made of tin, adorned with carved timber finials. At the entrance on the upper level, there is a half-gabled outshot approached by a timber staircase. On the south elevation, which faces the track, there are four windows at the base, while the operating room has continuous ten-bay fenestration that extends to the east and west gables. The windows are timber framed with a nine-pane glazing pattern.
