Description
The Signal Box at Elgin Centre, built in 1888 for the Great North of Scotland Railway Company, is a large, rectangular timber structure with ten windows. It features a grey slate roof and is clad in horizontal timber weather-boarding painted white. The locking room has three horizontal bi-partite windows. There is a projecting entrance porch on the west gable end, although the timber forestair has been removed. A tall brick chimney stack is located at the rear. The timber sash and case windows have six-pane glazing, although much of the glass and astragals were reported as largely missing or damaged in 2013.
