Description

The Cricket Pavilion at the Cricket Ground, built around 1893, is a two-storey structure featuring a brick and weatherboarded upper floor with a cast iron and corrugated asbestos roof. It has nine bays, with the end bays designed as gabled changing rooms. The seven central bays are adorned with a cast iron arcade supported by slender columns and laced brackets that lead to a sub roof. The ground floor includes margin glazed sash windows set above bracketed sills, which have security netting added in 1984. A balcony on the first floor is supported by bellied iron brackets, and there is a central open staircase leading down to the pitch. The end gabled rooms also feature margin glazed sash windows and a central door, while the gables display braced timber framing and billetted bargeboards.
