Description

Allan Cottage is a mid-19th century, two-storey, three-bay house with a rectangular plan and gabled roof. The exterior is finished in harled squared rubble with plain margins around the openings and projecting cills beneath the windows.

The west elevation, which is the principal facade, features a symmetrical design with regular window placement and a centrally located entrance that has a later door. The gable ends are adorned with scrolled wallhead consoles.

The east elevation, or rear, has an irregular arrangement of windows. The north elevation has a blind gable end, while the south elevation features windows on the outer left side, which are partially obscured by an adjoining building.

The windows are 12-pane, timber-framed, sash and case types. The roof is covered with grey slates and has lead flashing, along with cast-iron rainwater goods and coped gable stacks.

Inside, the cottage has plain but largely original fittings and simple plasterwork.
