Batterflatts House, 4 Polmaise Road, Stirling

Batterflatts House, located at 4 Polmaise Road in Stirling, was designed by architect John Allan and built in 1893. This large suburban villa showcases the English Arts and Crafts style, featuring red Ruabon bricks along with decorative cast detailing and stucco with black-painted timber-framing at the upper levels and gables. The roof is covered with red tiles, and there is a variety of window treatments including single, grouped, mullioned, and often transomed windows, many of which have small-paned upper panels.

The house is asymmetrical and consists of two and three storeys, highlighted by a crenellated and iron-crested square four-storey tower next to the main entrance, which includes a modern wheelchair ramp. The roofs are deep-eaved gabled, sometimes jettied, and have semi-polygonal piended designs.

Inside, the villa features a decorative interior with elaborate chimney pieces, timber panelling, and leaded glass panels.
