Cadzowburn, 59 Union Street, Hamilton

Cadzowburn is a mid to later 19th-century, two-storey villa with a rectangular plan and three bays. It is constructed from stugged cream sandstone and features a piended slate roof. The building has a base course, a moulded cill course at the first floor, and an eaves course. The angles are margined, and there are bracketed eaves with corniced wallhead stacks that rise through the eaves.

The front elevation has a central two-leaf panelled door set within a painted architraved doorcase that features a consoled lintel. To the left and right of the door are painted ashlar-margined windows with corniced lintels, although these have modern glazing that is not in keeping with the original style. The first floor has three round-headed windows with pilastered jambs and moulded heads set in recessed panels, featuring plate glass timber glazing. There is a small single-storey addition with a slate roof to the left, and a six-pane window at the first floor on the right return elevation, which shows some cement patching.

The rear elevation has not been seen, and the interior has also not been seen. A rubble boundary wall runs along Union Street.
