Description

5 Burnbank Road in Hamilton is a pair of two-storey tenements built in 1895, featuring Beaux-Arts and Baronial architectural styles. The front is constructed of red ashlar, while the rear is made of stugged and snecked rubble. Notable architectural details include pilaster-bracketted segmental doorheads, a continuous string course, a moulded cill course on the first floor, and a moulded wallhead course. The windows are a mix of single and bipartite sash and case types, with architraves on the first floor, although number 7 has mostly modern window frames that do not match the original character.

The gablets are corbel-panelled and coped, featuring finials and corniced stacks above the centre windows on the first floor. The building also has corniced ridge stacks and decorative cast-iron rainwater goods with hoppers.

On the front elevation, number 7 is located to the right. It has a door positioned to the centre left, with a bipartite window to the left and both single and bipartite windows to the right. The first floor has a single window in the centre and bipartite windows to the left and right. Number 5, to the left, is similar in design, but Harveys Bar has extended into the ground floor space to the left of the door.
