Description
97-99 High Street in Ayr is an earlier 19th-century, three-storey, two-bay tenement building that features a ground floor shop. The exterior is finished in painted ashlar and includes a cill course at the second floor, an eaves course, a cornice, and a blocking course. The first floor has angle blocks and block pediments above the corniced windows, while the second floor windows are framed with architraves.
On the northeast elevation, the entrance is located to the left, leading to a modern shopfront that includes an aluminium glazed door, a letterbox fanlight, and a shop window to the right. The first and second floors have a regular arrangement of windows.
The windows are four-pane timber sash and case style. The roof is covered with grey slate and features a small coped stack to the outer left of the blocking course, along with a circular chimney can.
The interior was not seen in 1998.
