125 High Street, Ayr

123 High Street in Ayr is a classical bank building designed by Peddie & Washington Browne, constructed between 1901 and 1902, with later alterations. It is a three-storey structure with seven bays, arranged in a 2-3-2 grouping, and is finished in polished ashlar. The three central bays are set forward and topped with a pediment. The ground floor features banded rustication, and the first and second floors are adorned with fluted giant Ionic pilasters. There are balustraded aprons on the first floor, an elaborate crest in the tympanum, a frieze, a modillioned cornice, and a parapet. The corners of the building are accentuated with raised quoins.

On the northeast elevation, there is a modern shopfront at the ground level, with three central round-arched openings that extend to full height. The central entrance has a two-leaf timber door with a fanlight above it, while the flanking entrances on the left and right feature flat voussoirs and modern glazed doors. The upper storeys have regular fenestration, with corniced windows in the central three bays on the first floor and architraved windows in the same bays on the second floor.

The upper storeys are fitted with plate glass timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and features corniced stacks with circular cans. The interior was not seen in 1998.
