Description
54 Sandgate in Ayr is a mid-19th century, two-storey, three-bay classical building that was formerly a church hall. The entrance elevation features painted ashlar stone. There is a cornice above the shop fascia, a corniced pediment, and architraved surrounds to the first-floor windows.
On the southeast entrance elevation, there is a deeply recessed entrance to the left, with a re-entrant angle for the shop. Both the entrance and the shop have timber glazed doors, and there are shop windows to the right. The first floor has regular fenestration, and there is a sunken architraved panel within the pediment.
The ground floor has shop windows, while the first floor features four-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a low apex stack at the pediment. The interior was not seen in 1998.
