Description
The former garage and store at Cloncaird Castle dates from the early 20th century and showcases a pair of buildings designed in the Arts and Crafts style, featuring matching stone and roof details. The structures are built from whinstone rubble, accented with rock-faced grey granite quoins and margins. They have a moulded granite eaves course, graduated slates, stone ridges, and cast-iron gutters.
The garage is a single-storey building with a square plan and a pyramid roof topped with a masonry finial at the apex. It has two later wide square-headed vehicle openings and a gabled projection to the northwest, which includes a ball-finialed skewputt and a shouldered stack at the gable end. Notably, there are unusual semi-circular dormers with hooded slates on the other three sides.
The store is also a single-storey building, featuring a rectangular plan with a piend roof and a prominent lead domed louvred ventilator at the ridge.
