Description
Cloncaird Castle is a country house incorporating a 16th-century tower house. The original core is a large, square tower containing a narrow spiral staircase. The front facade was completely rebuilt and modernized in 1814, adopting an unusual castle-style appearance, most notably featuring a four-story bastion. The castle’s design is documented in "Castles and Mansions of Ayrshire" by A.H. Millar and referenced in the New Statistical Account, Volume V, page 500.
