Description

The gate piers, located at Kirkmichael House, are a pair of 18th-century classical structures, originally accompanied by gates (now removed). They feature flat, fluted pilasters, accented by bands of rustication to the stone. A decorative entablature runs across the top of the piers, embellished with swags and sculpted heads of goddesses. The piers are surmounted by ornamented ball finials.
