Description

Parkfairn is a villa built in the late 18th century, with remodelling in the late 19th century and additions from the mid-20th century. It features a symmetrical two-storey design with a piend roof and three bays, along with single-storey ancillary wings that likely served as a former stable and byre. The principal elevation has regular fenestration, strip quoins, painted raised margins, and cills, all finished in painted wetdash render.

On the northwest (principal) elevation, there is a pitched-roofed glazed porch from the mid-20th century, flanked by bipartite windows dating to the late 19th century. The first floor has three windows, with the central one previously being blind. The wings on either side are three bays, with the left wing being longer; each wing features a central square window that was formerly a door, flanked by smaller windows in segmental-headed surrounds.

The southeast (rear) elevation includes a central two-storey single bay addition that is integrated into a single-storey piended addition running the length of the house. This elevation has irregular fenestration, with a door on the right return. The flanking wings have a central door and slits on the left side, while the right side has two doors and a small window.

The windows are primarily timber sash and case glazing, mostly with 12 panes, along with small-pane casement windows in the wings. The roof is covered with grey slates, and there are gable stacks with circular clay cans, as well as a later tall gable stack on the southwest wing. The building features cast-iron rainwater goods.

Inside, the villa was likely remodelled in the late 19th century, showcasing a timber baluster staircase, timber panelled doors with four fields, and simple cornices and chimneypieces.
