Description
The Hanging Garden in Auchincruive dates from around 1840 and features a three-tiered shallow terraced design that faces east towards the River Ayr. The garden is enclosed by coped sandstone rubble walls that slope down to the south, with regularly spaced semi-circular-plan buttresses supporting each terrace and angular buttresses on the sloping wall to the south. Decorative terracotta edging tiles enhance the garden's appearance, and cast-iron railings line the upper terrace. There are steps leading to the walls on the north side.
