Description

Earlier 19th century. 2-storey, basement and attic, 3-bay rectangular-plan house on corner site. Painted ashlar. Ground and 1st floor band courses; eaves course; cornice; blocking course. Painted margins to window openings.

NE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central stepped platt oversailing basement; Ionic-columned doorpiece; modillion cornice; central panel to block pediment; timber door; patterned letterbox fanlight; single window aligned above at 1st floor; flanking single windows at ground and 1st floor. Infilled at basement to right; timber glazed door to left at basement, modern window to right. Segmental-headed single dormers to outer right and left at attic.

NW (FORT STREET) ELEVATION: regular fenestration at ground and 1st floors; infilled windows to centre and left at 1st floor; pedimented gable; boundary wall adjoining to outer right (see below).

12-pane timber sash and case windows at ground and 1st floor; modern window at basement to left. Grey slate roof; corniced gablehead stacks; circular cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.

BOUNDARY WALL AND RAILINGS: partly coped rendered brick wall to NW elevation. Ashlar copes surmounted by iron railings with spike finials flank entrance steps and enclose Cathcart Street basement frontage.
