Slitrig Cottage, 1 The Village, Hawick

Slitrig Cottage is likely a late 18th century house that has undergone some alterations. It is a two-storey and attic building with a piended platform roof and features four bays, including a central dormer with two lights. The exterior is rendered and has polished ashlar dressings. The main southeast elevation has a central door leading to the three-bay section, with small windows on the outer right at each floor. There is a single window on the first floor of the southwest elevation and a single bay on the northeast elevation. A lean-to structure is located at the rear on the northwest side.

The cottage predominantly features timber sash and case windows with a four-pane glazing pattern. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a metal ridge. A coped yellow sandstone stack with circular buff clay cans is present, along with predominantly cast-iron rainwater goods.

The boundary wall surrounding the front garden is made of roughly squared rubble with a curved cope. It is lower to the southwest and southeast and higher along Kirk Wynd to the northeast.
