Description
4 The Loan in Lauder is an earlier 19th century, two-storey, double-fronted terraced cottage. The exterior is harled with painted stone dressings, featuring architraved openings and vertical margins at the arrises on the principal (north) elevation.
The north elevation has a near-symmetrical arrangement. The entrance is located to the left of centre and consists of a panelled timber door topped with a three-light rectangular fanlight. There are flanking windows on each floor and an additional window above.
The east elevation adjoins No 3 The Loan, while the west elevation adjoins No 5 The Loan. The principal elevation includes 12 and 4-pane timber sash and case windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and has flanking rendered or harled coped gablehead stacks with round cans.
