Description
Finchy Shiel and Ice House is likely from the mid-19th century, with later additions and alterations. It is a single-storey building with an attic and a rectangular plan, featuring two bays and single-storey additions at the rear. The structure is made of harled sandstone rubble, which is partially exposed, and the wallhead has been heightened with brick and harling. There is a fish house to the east.
On the south elevation, there is a later steel door to the left and a steel shuttered window to the right. The east side elevation has a steel shuttered window at ground level to the left and another steel shuttered window above it. A garage door is found in a single-storey lean-to addition on the outer right.
The north elevation has single-storey additions that project at ground level. The west side elevation features a gabled design with a pointed projection centered at the ground, and a single-storey mono-pitched addition projects to the outer left. There are Velux rooflights on the south side, and the roof is steeply pitched with purple slate, dating to around 1950. The east side has a harled apex stack and a circular can.
Inside, the space is a fairly plain storage area. The fish house is constructed of sandstone rubble, with a square-headed door centered in a segmental-arched entrance on the south elevation.
