Description
32 Hillside Terrace is a mid-19th century, two-storey, three-bay rectangular-plan house with a single-storey wing to the northwest. The building is constructed from squared and snecked whinstone, featuring droved ashlar dressings, while the side elevations are harled. It has a base course, flush quoins, and an eaves course.
On the northeast elevation, there is a deep-set panelled door with brass fittings and a plate glass letterbox fanlight above, which is framed by a pilastered and corniced doorpiece. Above this door, there is a window on the first floor, with a window in each floor of the flanking bays. The single-storey wing, which is set back to the right, has a boarded door to the left and a later addition with a two-leaf boarded garage door to the outer right.
The house features 12-pane timber sash and case windows and has a slate piended roof, with a half-piended roof on the wing. There are harled and ashlar wallhead stacks on the side elevations, and 19th-century two-pane skylights on the principal elevation.
The interior was not seen in 1995. The boundary wall is made of whinstone rubble and has a coped top, while the gatepiers are square-plan ashlar with pyramidal coping.
