Description
69 and 71 High Street in Selkirk is an earlier 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay terraced tenement that includes commercial premises on the ground floor. The building features painted bull-faced render with painted droved ashlar dressings, and the ground floor to the right is line-rendered. Notable architectural elements include a base course, a fascia between the ground and first floor with a cornice above, an eaves course, and quoins.
On the southeast elevation facing High Street, the layout is irregular. There is a door at the center of the ground floor with a plate glass letterbox above it, and a window on the first floor. To the left, there is a window on each floor, closely spaced to the center bay. The bay on the right has a fixed-pane shop window with a stallriser and an inset glazed door to the right, along with a window on the first floor.
The building has a variety of windows, including four-pane and plate glass timber sash and case. It is topped with a slate roof and features a brick mutual stack on the southwest side. The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1996.
