Description
9 Scotts Place in Selkirk is an end of terrace house dated 1811, with later alterations. It is a two-storey, three-bay rectangular building featuring a rear addition. The exterior is constructed of squared and snecked whinstone with painted sandstone dressings, while the southwest and rear elevations are harled. The building has long and short quoins and margins around the openings, along with an eaves course.
On the southeast elevation facing High Street, there is a modern panelled door at the center of the ground floor, which is topped by a plate glass rectangular fanlight and a datestone above. There is a window on the first floor and a window in each of the flanking bays on both floors.
The northwest elevation is not fully visible, as observed in 1995. It features a stair window at the center, with a single-storey addition projecting from the left of center. The windows are 12-pane timber sash and case. The roof is modern with concrete tiles, and there is a harled coped wallhead stack on the southwest side, along with a coped ashlar skew on the northeast side.
The interior was not seen during the 1995 inspection.
