Description

Viewfield Lodge is an earlier 19th-century single-storey, five-bay lodge with later alterations and additions. It is constructed of whinstone, featuring droved ashlar dressings on the northeast side and rubble on the southwest side. An addition to the southeast is made of whinstone with red sandstone droved dressings, and the building has an eaves course and quoins.

On the northeast (principal) elevation, there is a modern boarded door at the center with a rectangular plate glass fanlight above. There are windows in each of the flanking bays, with quoins between the inner and outer bays on the left. The outer left bay has a window, while the outer right bay is blank. A modern harled link connects to a blank single-storey, single-bay addition on the outer left.

The northwest elevation features a single bay with a bowed window at the center. The southwest elevation has a window to the left of center, and there is a window to the left of center in the addition on the outer right. The lodge has modern glazing, a slate piended roof, and an ashlar coped stack.

The gatepiers and railings consist of square-plan ashlar gatepiers leading to Viewfield, topped with pyramidal coping and accompanied by decorative wrought-iron railings. The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1995.
