Kingswood Lodge, Bonnington Road, Peebles

Kingswood Lodge, located on Bonnington Road in Peebles, was built by Messers. J&D Murray between 1861 and 1862 for James Roy, a merchant, with alterations made in 1883. This two-storey, three-bay structure originally served as a lodge and coach house. It is constructed from whinstone with sandstone dressings and features stugged quoins.

On the south elevation, the entrance door is shifted to the right at the center, with a drinking fountain to the left. There is a segmental carriage arch to the left and a flat carriage arch to the right, both of which are blocked and glazed. The first-floor windows break the eaves and are topped with gabled dormerheads, while a small central window is positioned close to the eaves, flanked by windows in the outer bays. The gable ends have a first-floor window on the west side and a lean-to greenhouse on the east side. The rear elevation is irregular, featuring a box dormer-headed bipartite window at the first floor.

The building has uPVC glazing and is covered with purple-grey slates, with corbel skewputts and sandstone stacks. The interior was not seen in 1994. The boundary walls are made of rubble and step down, topped with saddleback ashlar coping and ball finials on the south side.
