Description

Late 19th century. Pair of 2-storey and attic 2- and 3-bay semi-detached houses, with later single storey annex. Whinstone with

painted ashlar dressings; overhanging eaves; pierced bargeboards.

E ELEVATION: near symmetrical main block flanked by projecting gabled wings (symmetry thrown by 2nd gable to outer right). Gables with tripartite windows to each floor (mullions removed to No 6). At centre, glazed, arcaded decorative timber lean-to porch links wings; each house with door and window at ground, and row of 6 small square windows between porch and eaves at 1st floor. Glazed box dormers pop out of roof, that to No 4 still with original pagoda roof. To far right, further gabled bay (No 4 a) and set back flat-roofed annex providing access.

Timber sash and case windows;, replaced to no6, which retains some leaded windows. Purple-grey slates; sandstone stacks; octagonal cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1994.

BOUNDARY WALL: rubble boundary with boulder coping to main road.
