4A Bonnington Road, Peebles

4A Bonnington Road in Peebles is a pair of late 19th-century semi-detached houses, each two stories high with an attic, featuring two and three bays. There is also a later single-storey annex. The houses are constructed from whinstone with painted ashlar dressings, and they have overhanging eaves and pierced bargeboards.

The east elevation is nearly symmetrical, with a main block flanked by projecting gabled wings, although the symmetry is disrupted by a second gable on the outer right. Each gable has tripartite windows on both floors, although the mullions have been removed from No 6. At the center, a glazed, arcaded decorative timber lean-to porch connects the wings, with each house having a door and window at ground level, and a row of six small square windows between the porch and the eaves on the first floor. Glazed box dormers protrude from the roof, with the dormer on No 4 still featuring its original pagoda roof. To the far right, there is an additional gabled bay (No 4a) and a set-back flat-roofed annex that provides access.

The houses have timber sash and case windows, although No 6 has had its windows replaced and retains some leaded windows. The roofs are covered with purple-grey slates, and there are sandstone stacks with octagonal cans.

The interior was not seen in 1994. The boundary wall is made of rubble with boulder coping along the main road.
