Description
The gateway and lodges at Floors Castle were designed by Reginald Fairlie in 1929. The structure features a pair of tall square ashlar piers that are corniced and topped with urns. These piers support a wrought-iron overthrow that displays the Roxburghe arms. The gateway is adorned with fine wrought-iron gates, and wrought-iron screens with pedestrian gates connect the gatepiers to a pair of flanking lodges. Each lodge is two stories tall, has a square plan, and is constructed from snecked bull-faced rubble. They feature bell-cast, slated pavilion roofs and a square central stack.
