Orchard Cottage And Dovecot, Bowmont Street, Kelso

Orchard House is a classical villa built around 1825, featuring two storeys and a basement. The building has three bays, with the centre bay slightly projecting and adorned with a garlanded block pediment above. The main entrance is approached by steps over an area and has a panelled pilastered door-piece. The front is constructed of ashlar stone with rusticated angle quoins at the ground floor and panelled angle margins above the first-floor cill course. The ground floor windows are framed with panelled pilastered surrounds, while the first-floor windows have plain architraves. A cornice runs along the wall-head, with a blocking course and rendered stacks at the flanks, topped by a piended slated roof.

To the east of Orchard House is Orchard Cottage, a single-storey, three-bay wing attached to the main house, also featuring a slated roof that is piended to the east.

Additionally, there is a dovecot, likely built in the early 19th century, which has a square plan and gabled ends to the north and south, topped with a low-pitched roof. The south wall includes a door with a triangular-headed inset above that contains three flight holes.
