Description
22 and 24 Woodmarket in Kelso is a building likely dating from the later 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It stands two storeys tall with an attic and features a continuous pilastered shop front from the early 19th century at the ground floor. Originally, there were two shops on either side of a central door, but the left-hand shop has had its windows blocked and a door converted into a window. The four windows on the first floor have moulded architraves, which were originally corniced. The building has a central wall-head gable topped with an open pediment, and there are two attic dormers with simple moulded architraves. The wallhead was altered in the mid-19th century to support a balustraded parapet flanking the central gable. The building features rusticated angle quoins, harled upper floors, and a slated roof.
