Description
The fire station at 10-14 Gordon Street in Paisley was built in 1897 and features Renaissance architectural details. It is designed around a courtyard and consists of a three-storey tenement with a conical-roofed, curved turret at the western corner. The north-west front is symmetrical, with outer gables connected by a parapet. The ground floor has a depressed-arched arcade with vehicle openings, and there are bipartite windows above. Access decks are located at the rear, while the south-west elevation is partly single-storey. To the east, beyond the courtyard entrance, there is a detached range that includes a tall, crenellated brick-built practice tower. The building is primarily constructed of bull-faced ashlar with polished dressings, and many openings feature hood-moulding or cornicing. The stacks are coped, and the roofs are covered with slate.
