Description
The Railway Viaduct on Underwood Road in Paisley was built in 1840. It features a sharply skewed design with a large central semi-elliptical arch flanked by two smaller arches. The structure is made of polished channelled ashlar at the corners, with rough-faced ashlar used between the corners and beneath the arches. There is an impost moulding above the arches, and the voussoirs and outer soffits are channelled. The inner soffits are made of brick. Polished ashlar is present over the voussoirs and on the raised pilaster strips that flank the arches. A banding course runs above, and the parapet is advanced over the pilaster strips.
