Former Oakshaw East United Free Church, 6 Oakshaw Street, Paisley

The Former Oakshaw East United Free Church, located at 6 Oakshaw Street in Paisley, was built in 1826 in the style of John Baird I. This rectangular church has two storeys and features a five-bay front made of ashlar stone. Each bay is accentuated by great Roman Doric pilasters. The three central bays project forward and have double leaf panelled doors. The ground floor windows are rectangular and have architraves. The advanced centre has a pediment, while the outer bays and sides feature an eaves cornice and blocking course. The side elevations also consist of five bays, with the end bays advanced and pilastered, and the windows treated similarly to those at the front. The building has a piended slate roof with a ventilator.

Inside, the church remains relatively intact, although the pews have been removed. There is a one-bay vestibule with stairs leading to a gallery. The gallery wraps around three sides and is supported by cast-iron colonettes. The tall pulpit is flanked by steps, and the flanking windows have internal cornices and brackets. The ceiling features a shallow saucer dome.
