Description
28 High Street in Paisley is a commercial building dated 1883, designed in the French Renaissance style. It is three stories tall with an attic and features three bays. The exterior is constructed of ashlar stone. The ground floor has been modernized but retains a cornice above it. On the first and second floors, there are shallow canted windows on either side of a single central window. The façade is enhanced with pilasters and pediments, and there is a corbelled balcony above the central window on the second and attic floors. The balustrade over the second floor is interrupted by segmental pediments of the canted bays. The building has three wallhead dormers, with the outer ones being tripartite and the central one being two stories tall, all decorated with pilasters and pediments. There are also two later flat-headed dormers located behind. The roof is a mansard style, with the lower part covered in lead, and features a central truncated pyramid with a brattished crown. The building has straight skews and end stacks, with diminutive end pediments.
