Description
26 High Street in Paisley is a commercial building dating from around 1883, designed in the French Renaissance style. It is three storeys tall with an attic and features three bays. The building is constructed of ashlar stone. The ground floor has been modernized but retains a cornice above it. On either side of the central entrance, there are shallow canted windows, with single windows in the middle, each having cill courses on the upper floors.
The first-floor canted windows are topped with cornices, and there is a decorative scroll work pediment above the central window. A continuous cornice and parapet run above the second-floor windows. The roof features three wallhead dormers, each with pediments, linked by a parapet, and there is a stack positioned over the center. All the windows are designed with mullions and transoms, and the roof is steeply pitched and covered with slate. The end stacks are adorned with small pediments.
