Description
Arnotts, located at 6-8 Smithhills Street in Paisley, dates from around 1830 and consists of a pair of three-storey, five-bay houses that have been combined into one shop. The left side features mid to late 19th century shopfronts on the ground floor, which include panelled pilasters and a double-leaf panelled door. The right side has a modern ground floor. Above the ground floor, there is a cornice and blocking course that serves as a cill band for the first floor. The first and second floor windows are architraved, with cornices above the first floor windows. Most of the windows have 12-pane glazing, although the centre window on each second floor is blind. The eaves band is interrupted by architraves, and there is a corniced blocking course with corniced wallhead stacks, which remain intact on the left side. The building is topped with a slate roof featuring corniced end stacks.
