Description
St James' Bridge, located on Gauze Street in Paisley, was built in 1883 and features an Italianate design. It is a two-span bridge with a semi-circular central abutment. The bridge is constructed from channelled ashlar and has architraved voussoirs that form segmental arches. Notable features include carved head keystones, a sculpted panel on the abutment, and a garland frieze. The cornice is supported by coupled columns that are set forward at the central opening, and there is a balustraded parapet. Only the south side of the bridge remains intact.
