Greyfriars Burial Ground, Canal Street, Perth

Greyfriars Burial Ground, located on Canal Street in Perth, is an important burial ground with its earliest stone dated 1580. It contains a nationally significant collection of headstones, monuments, and mausolea from the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. The boundary walls, made of rubble, were constructed around 1835. The northern entrance features squared ashlar gatepiers topped with cornices and ball-finial caps, along with a footgate to the right that has a 17th-century death's head sundial above it.

Inside the boundary walls, to the left of the entrance, is a mausoleum built around 1830. This mausoleum is adorned with Roman Doric pilasters that support a parapeted entablature featuring a wreathed frieze. Additionally, there are later ornamental metal gates at the pedestrian entrance on Tay Street.
