Description
60 and 62 Princes Street is a two-storey, three-bay former photographic studio built in 1883, showcasing a symmetrical design influenced by Baroque architecture. The building features canted oriel windows on the first floor and a timber shopfront on the ground floor. It is constructed of polished pale sandstone ashlar with moulded dressings, while the side and rear elevations are made of red brick.
The ground floor has a symmetrical timber pilastered shopfront with a moulded and dentiled cornice, featuring a pair of timber panel doors at the center, flanked by plate glass windows and panelled stall risers. The first floor boasts canted tripartite oriel windows with stone mullions and carved swags, divided by fluted pilasters topped with triangular pedimented caps. Above these windows is a canted and balustraded parapet adorned with panels and three large urn finials. The roof is covered with grey slate and has a piended design, with a lean-to extension at the rear also featuring a slate roof.
Inside, the building has been recast and subdivided to create flatted accommodation on the upper levels, while the ground floor is now open-plan and extended to the rear.
