City Mills Hotel, West Mill Street, Perth

The City Mills Hotel, located on West Mill Street in Perth, is a former mill that features a west section dating from the mid 18th century and south and east sections from the late 18th century. The building is three stories high with a loft and is arranged in a U-plan. It currently operates as a hotel and includes two-storey and attic extensions to the west and east, built by T M Miller & Partners in 1970-1971, as well as a single-storey entrance block that infills the courtyard to the north. The exterior is constructed of rubble with smooth margins, and there are some rectangular openings at the ground level with timber boarded doors. The roof features small piended dormers.

The windows are predominantly non-traditional tilt-and-turn timber designs, with 9-pane and 12-pane configurations. The roof is covered with grey slates, with a piended roof on the south section and gabled roofs on the other sections.

Inside, as of 2009, the building had been converted to a hotel in the 1970s but still retains some original mill features. Notably, there is a rare timber King-post roof with timber trusses, rafters, and tie-beams in the main function room. Additionally, two timber undershot wheels are visible from the foyer.
