Description

The Savings Bank at 26 Tay Street in Perth was designed by Andrew Heiton around 1873. This mid-Victorian Renaissance building features two storeys and an attic, with two French-roofed pavilions and a recessed central bay. It is constructed from local sandstone, accented with white sandstone dressings. The original arched doorpiece is located at the south pavilion, while a modern matching doorpiece is found at the north pavilion. The central bay has a triple arched window, and the north pavilion includes a double-arched window on the ground floor. The first floor features lugged architrave windows, with tripartite windows at the central bay and bipartite windows at the pavilions. The building is topped with a balustraded parapet adorned with finials, and the pavilions have segmentally pedimented dormers, while the central bay has a pedimented bipartite window supported by scrolls.
