5 King Street, Perth

5 King Street in Perth is a late 18th-century, three-storey tenement block situated on a narrow corner site. The building features a curving timber shopfront on the ground floor, adorned with fluted pilasters and panelled stops. It is constructed from harled rubble and has narrow projecting cills. The west elevation facing King Street has three bays and six openings on the ground floor, including a pilastered doorpiece on the far left, while the upper floors have regular window arrangements. The east elevation facing Canal Crescent displays irregular fenestration.

The windows are predominantly timber sash and case with 12-pane glazing, and the bow end features gently curved units. The roof is slated, with a coped ridge brick stack that has octagonal clay cans and a stepped end stack to the south. The building also includes cast-iron rainwater goods.

Inside, the space has been largely recast in 2002 as an open-plan office, with a modern curving metal stair that prominently features at the bow end.
