The Garrison Theatre, Lyness, Doonatown, Walls, Hoy

The Garrison Theatre, located in Lyness, Doonatown, Walls, Hoy, is a former theatre built around 1942. This two-storey building showcases Art Deco architectural style with its black-rendered brickwork and white-banded windows, featuring a stepped elevation.

On the northeast (principal) elevation, there is a flat-roofed central porch with a central door flanked by windows. The ground floor has three windows, while the first floor is shorter with a central section that is slightly advanced and heightened, containing two windows. The bays on the right and left are set back and each has two windows. A stepped wall is set back at the far right and left, creating a platform above the outer ground floor bays.

The southeast elevation features two ground floor windows, with the white-banding continuing from the front elevation. There is a window/door on the first floor, and a stepped gable wall at this level.

The southwest elevation has a grey-painted wall with a single-storey flat-roofed extension to the right. The windows are irregularly placed, with two on the ground floor and two on the first floor.

The northeast elevation includes a ground floor window to the right and a stepped gable wall at the first floor.

The building has UPVC windows and some timber casements, along with a glazed front door that features sunburst timber astragals. The roof is flat. The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 2000.
