6 Albert Street, Kirkwall

6 Albert Street in Kirkwall is a house built in the earlier to mid 19th century, with some later alterations. It is a two-storey, three-bay structure with a symmetrical rectangular plan and a modern harled exterior. The first-floor windows are positioned close to the eaves.

On the south elevation, there is a modern, part-glazed door with a letterbox fanlight located centrally at the ground level, with a narrow window above it on the first floor. Each bay features a window on both floors.

The west side elevation has a window positioned to the right on the first floor, with a gablehead stack above it. The house has four-pane timber sash and case windows, and there are two evenly spaced two-pane rooflights on the south pitch. The roof is covered with purple Welsh slate, featuring a stone ridge, stone skews, and harled, corniced gablehead stacks on both the east and west sides, along with ridged cylindrical cans and uPVC rainwater goods.

The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1998. The boundary walls consist of a rendered rubble wall with a ridged ashlar coping on the south side and a dry-point rubble wall to the west of the house.
