Description

Later 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay rectangular-plan symmetrical house with 1 and 1/2 storey, 4-bay asymmetrical pitch-roofed stable, cartshed and hayloft range projecting to S and further modern addition projecting further to S. Cement-rendered and lined with long and short sandstone ashlar margins to openings.

E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: replacement timber panelled door with rectangular fanlight at ground in bay to centre; window at 1st floor above. Window at each floor in each bay flanking. BARN: boarded hay loft door in bay to centre. Boarded door at ground in bay to left. Window (boarded) in bay to outer left. 2-leaf sliding corrugated-iron doors in bay to outer right. Window at each floor in right return. Blank walls to modern addition to outer left.

4-pane timber sash and case windows; fixed 4- and 6-pane windows to barn. Old Orkney grey slate; stone ridge; harled coped gablehead stacks to N and S; uPVC rainwater goods.

INTERIOR: not seen, 1997.

BOUNDARY WALLS: low roughly coursed rubble wall to E; curved sandstone ashlar cope.
