Description
The stables at Cleddans House were likely remodeled around 1840, at the same time as the main house, and they incorporate existing buildings. This U-plan structure has been thoughtfully converted for domestic use while retaining its original openings. The stables are built from rubble with ashlar dressings and feature crow-stepped gables. The north range, which was formerly a barn, includes segmental archways at each gable and a 2-bay cartshed, along with a loft door and square windows along the long sides. There is also a dovecot in the east gable. The flanking ranges are single storey with end stacks that have projecting chimney breasts, and all stacks are coped with one brick. The roof is covered with uniform slates. Additionally, there are gatepiers located to the southeast.
