Description
1-3 Bank Street in Irvine is an earlier 19th century, three-storey classical corner tenement featuring a curved corner detail and commercial premises on the ground floor. The building is constructed of painted ashlar and has architraved windows on the first and second floors, along with a base course, cornice, and blocking course. Pilasters frame the elevations.
The elevation facing Bank Street has three bays, with the first and second bays grouped together. It features a corniced and pilastered doorpiece with recessed steps between the first and second bays from the left. To the left, there is a 19th century shop window, while the windows to the right are less traditional, and there is an additional door on the outer right. The upper floors have regular fenestration. The elevation facing High Street has two bays, with 19th century shop windows on the ground floor and regular fenestration above.
The corner bay is curved and includes a shop door at ground level, with two-leaf doors marked 'Medical Hall' above. The upper floors have regular windows, although the window on the second floor is blinded. The second-floor windows are timber sash and case, featuring 6-pane upper sashes and plate glass lower sashes. The first floor has modern glazing. There is a flush panelled door to Bank Street and two-leaf doors at the corner bay. The roof is covered with grey slate and features ashlar and brick stacks, along with a cast-iron rooflight.
