Description
This building at 18 Annick Road in Irvine is a two-storey, three-bay house dating from the earlier to mid-19th century. It has a rectangular plan and is constructed from squared and snecked sandstone, with harled sides that are painted all around.
On the southwest elevation, which is the principal facade, there is a central entrance door that features a later brick-built porch with a piend roof and segment-arched openings. The bays are symmetrical and have ashlar cills with painted margins. The wall has a tooled finish, and there is an eaves band.
The northeast elevation includes a single bay that lights the staircase at the first-floor landing, while the ground floor is obscured by a later lean-to structure.
The northwest elevation is a gable end with single windows on both the ground and first floors, offset to the right. The southeast elevation has a single window on the first floor, offset to the left, and the ground floor is obscured by a later garage addition.
The first-floor window at the rear has a four-pane timber frame, while the other windows are modern. The roof is covered with grey slate and features skews and gablehead stacks.
The interior was not seen in 1996. The property is enclosed by a rubble stone boundary wall with coping along Mill Road, and a later brick dwarf wall with coping along Annick Road.
