Description
The Mayflower, located at 11 Annick Road in Irvine, is a classical house built in the later 19th century. It is a single-storey and attic structure with an L-shaped plan, featuring three bays. The front is constructed of coursed ashlar with rusticated quoins, while the sides and rear are made of rubble stone, with ashlar dressings. The front also includes a base course, an eaves band, and a cornice.
The east elevation is symmetrical, showcasing a central pedimented doorpiece with a sculpture in the tympanum supported by consoles. On either side of the doorpiece are tripartite windows with lugged heads, mullions, and panels beneath the cills. Above the doorway, there is a small round-arched dormer that breaks the pitch, flanked by canted piend roofed dormers.
The north elevation features a blank gable end, while the south elevation has a gable end with a window in the attic storey that includes ashlar dressing. The west elevation has a gable end on the left with a later two-storey flat roof addition, and a single-storey flat roof addition to the right in the re-entrant angle. The building has modern windows, grey slates on the roof, skews, and a stone gable head stack on the west gable, along with later brick stacks on the north and south gables and a breaking ridge on the west.
The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1996. The boundary wall consists of a low rubble stone wall with coping at the front, with later walls added to the sides and rear.
