14 East Brighton Crescent, Portobello, Edinburgh

14 East Brighton Crescent is a classical house built in the later 19th century, located at the end of a terrace in Portobello, Edinburgh. The building is two stories high and features five bays, with an angled two-bay section. The front is finished in polished ashlar that is deeply channelled at the ground level, while the rear is constructed from roughly squared and snecked rubble. Notable architectural details include a base course, a band course between the ground and first floors, a cill course at the first floor, and a cornice with a blocking course.

On the principal (north) elevation, there is a deep-set Edinburgh panelled door in the right bay, topped by a plate glass rectangular fanlight, along with a window at the first floor and additional windows in the remaining bays. The rear (south) elevation is asymmetrical, featuring a round-arched bordered staircase window on the left and an extension on the right.

The windows on the principal elevation are plate glass timber sash and case, while the rear includes 12-pane and 8-pane timber sash and case windows. The building has piended slate roofs on both the north side and the angled two-bay section, with a gully between. There is a rendered and coped mutual stack and an ashlar shouldered, coped wallhead stack on the south side.

The interior was not seen in 1994, but it is noted that shutters are still in place and functional, and a cornice remains in the vestibule. The boundary walls are made of droved ashlar with coping at the front.
