Description

Douglas Row is a group of estate cottages likely built in the mid-19th century. The row consists of two blocks of single-storey cottages arranged uniformly, with a break roughly halfway along their length. The cottages are paired, each with a shallow-arched doorway featuring a three-pane fanlight and timber-mullioned, sash windows with a four-pane glazing pattern. Each cottage also has a single dormer window, mirroring the ground floor's glazing pattern in a smaller scale. The cottages are constructed of squared rubble with ashlar dressings and slate roofs, with chimney stacks positioned over alternate common walls. A shared garden area is located at the front, extending to individual kitchen gardens beyond. The statutory address is Douglas Row, Douglas Place, Brodick, Arran.
