Fernside, 67 Brisbane Street, Largs

Fernside is a later 19th-century, two-storey, three-bay villa located at 67 Brisbane Street in Largs. The building is constructed of stugged red sandstone and features an altered conservatory extending to the west. The outer bays are bowed and linked by a columned porch with a balustrade above. The central entrance has a recessed door framed by a roll moulded architrave. A continuous string course runs over the ground floor. The curved east bay is corbelled to an octagonal shape at the eaves, with a faceted roof that terminates in an octagonal cupola topped with a bell-cast roof. The villa has heavily bracketed eaves, end stacks, and a slate roof that is piended at the west.

Inside, the hall features two Corinthian columns and some decorative plasterwork. The property is also marked by square red ashlar gatepiers, which have pedimented caps raised on small engaged columns at the corners, and domed caps that support iron lamp brackets.
